The Biggest Lie

The biggest lie ever told is only four words long.

The Biggest Lie

What this campaign is about

The Biggest Lie began as an essay by Ingmar Rentzhog, written after ten years inside the climate crisis, and grew into a campaign against the most comfortable idea in climate politics: that there is still time to wait. The essay is published in full and free to read, listen to and share, with translations and an audio narration.

Around it we build the follow-up: interviews, responses and reporting that keep testing the same four words against what governments and companies actually do.

Why it is needed

Outright denial is no longer the main obstacle. Delay is. 'We have more time' is said politely, in official documents and on stage, by people who would never call themselves deniers — and it postpones every decision that matters while sounding entirely reasonable.

What we want to achieve

  1. 1Put the essay in front of as many people as possible, in as many languages as possible, free.
  2. 2Name delay for what it is, each time it appears in a target, a pledge or a timeline.
  3. 3Turn readers into supporters of the work that follows.
